Behind the camera

I’m the tall guy behind the camera. My name is Claudio Thoma, born 1994 in Zürich, Switzerland. I work as staff-photographer for swiss sports-photo agency «freshfocus» and as freelance photographer for several different clients, magazines and newspapers.

After my time in school I’ve finished the Propädeutikum at «F+F School for Arts and Design» and graduated as grafic designer EFZ (bachelor level) at the same place with an half year internship at the «Aroma» agency, designing exhibition projects for brands such as «BMW», «Audi», «pwc», «UBS» and much more. During that time I came in contact with photography and started to build a bigger knowledge with the subject.

After the workshop «Sports Shooter Academy» in Costa Mesa, California i decided to focus more on my photographic work. After getting started with covering different sports like floorball (where it all started), to swimming, athletics and martial arts, i opened my personal point of view and startet working in the nighlife of Zürich, shooting for local organisers and nightclubs like «Future Events», «Pink Ribbon Switzerland», «Kaufleuten Club», «GDS.fm», «Supermarket», «Exil Club» and «Impact Hub». In sports I worked on comission for «IFF», «swiss unihockey», «unihockey.ch» and «floorball Deutschland». After a short stay in Örnsköldsvik, Sweden, I worked as photo-intern for the «Aargauer Zeitung» and the «CH Media» group. My photographic work is specialised in sports, repotage and portrait.
